Our careers team are available to provide you with careers advice and support.

Brighton MET and Northbrook College's Matrix accredited Careers & Employability Service provides current and potential students with independent information, advice and guidance in all areas related to careers and employability.

Our team of qualified Careers Advisers are available to provide you with impartial advice and guidance to support your aspirations explore the opportunities that are available to you and to help you plan your next steps after you complete your course. Our aim is to help you assess your own skills, values and interests, and match these interests into a career plan.

Our team of Work Experience Coordinators are available to help match you to relevant and meaningful work experience and industry placements. Our aim is to ensure you can benefit from putting theory into practice and leave college with the knowledge, skills and attitude you need to be ready for employment or further study.

At Brighton MET (Central and East campuses)

  • Central Brighton Campus
    Independent Careers Adviser available by appointment on Wednesdays in the LRC for students of the College.

    Independent Careers Adviser available by appointment on Thursdays in the LRC for students of the College.

There is a weekly apprenticeships surgery at the Central Brighton Campus every Wednesday 1pm-3pm (to be confirmed).

One-to-one appointment slots are available to book at both campuses by contacting the team on 01273 667780 or emailing careers@gbmc.ac.uk

At Northbrook College (Worthing and Shoreham campuses)

The Careers team main base is the Student Centre at Broadwater Campus.

Details of weekly campus Careers drop-ins will be advertised on the Student Portal.

Getting the most out of your time at college

During your time at the College, you will have access to a range of Careers and Employability activities that are delivered through the College’s Careers Programme.

Induction week
  • Overview of Careers and Employability Programme and introductions to people who can support you with your career planning
  • Tour of the college including the Student Centres (Careers & Employability team and the Apprenticeship team), and the Learning Resource Centres.

Throughout the year
  • Individual tutorials including career planning and preparation for work experience
  • 1:1 support from the Careers & Employability team
  • Individual Support and Career Planning for Students with Special Educational and Support Needs (SEND)
  • Curriculum-based careers and work-related activities, trips and visits from industry speakers.
  • Higher Education and UCAS talks and workshops.
  • Career planning progression talks, workshops and activities
  • Support to take part in work experience placements, projects and other work related activities
