    S'kool Fest - The best young bands, musicians, singers, songwriters and MC's from Sussex schools and colleges. An exciting night showcasing young talent.

  • Illuminated Willow Sculptures

    GB MET and 1BTN partnered to provide an insight into the festival & event industry. Alongside industry professionals, students took part in creative festival design & decor workshops with Originary Arts! 

  • Printed Flags and Banners

    Playful printmaking and pattern making to decorate fabric, which will be turned into festival flags, banners or bunting. 

  • Chandelier Mobile Making

    GB MET and 1BTN are partnering to provide an insight into the festival & event industry. Work alongside industry professionals and take part in creative festival design & decor workshops with Originary Arts! 

    Turning 'trash' into fantastic decorations to be hung in tents or in trees. 

  • Art and Design National Saturday Club

    The Art & Design Saturday Club offers an exciting and varied range of creative workshops taking advantage of the extensive facilities at our West Durrington Campus. The club is completely free and aimed at young people aged 13-16 who are interested in Art and Design.

  • Festival setup

    GB MET and 1BTN are partnering to provide an insight into the festival & event industry. Work alongside industry professionals and take part in creative festival design & decor workshops with Originary Arts! 

  • Photography Workshop

    FREE Photography Workshop for 16-25 year olds

    Learn the basics of event photography and take pictures at our Community Celebration in this interactive workshop. Selected photographs will be used for a GB MET Inclusive Calendar.

     We ran a brilliant series of Industry Talks that are available for you to watch on YouTube!

  • UK University Search Fair

    The UK University Search Fair in Brighton was a great way for students to find out more about universities and apprenticeships.

    This exciting and informative event provided attendees with the opportunity to speak to a multitude of exhibiting universities and apprenticeship providers. 
  • Theatre Spring Programme

    This four-day project put students at the centre of an intensive theatre-making process, devising and staging a new piece of work by the end of the final day. Student's worked collaboratively under the guidance of a professional theatre director, developing your performance skills. 

  • S'Kool Fest! 2022
    The tenth annual S'kool Fest took place at the Pavilion Theatre in Worthing this June (2022)!
     
    We celebrated the best young bands, musicians, singers, songwriters, MC's and singers from Sussex schools and colleges. An exciting night showcasing young talent.
  • Sound Off

    At GB MET Northbrook Theatre we have a fantastic free performance of ‘Sound Off’ on Thursday 3 March at 6.30pm.

    Our Theatre students have been working closely with BSL interpreters, consultants and D/deaf actors to put on a specialist work in development for D/deaf, hearing impaired and hearing audiences.

  • Changing the World With Your Wardrobe

    Are you interested in fashion, sustainability and veganism? 

    Sascha Camilli is Senior PR Coordinator at PETA. She is also the author of Vegan Style, a guide to vegan fashion and lifestyle. Her talk “Changing the World With Your Wardrobe” will shine a light on PETA campaigns in the fashion industry, explore ways that animals are used for fashion and showcase the cutting-edge vegan materials replacing them.

  • S'Kool Fest!

    For the past nine years, we have hosted the well known S’KoolFest event at Worthing Pavilion Theatre. This annual event gives young people from local schools and colleges the opportunity to perform on the stage.

    The event also includes workshops from music specialists, and all performers can record their tracks using the MET's recording studios! 

    We are delighted to announce that S'koolFest will be returning in 2022 and more information about this will be coming soon.

  • Creative Arts Holiday Programme

    Last October half-term we were excited to host a series of free workshops for 16-25 year olds. This Creative Arts Holiday Programme included Manga art, sculpture, photography and production management workshops. Students showed off their fantastic work at a final exhibition. 

  • Creative Arts Holiday Programme - Worthing

    This programme brought together 11 young people from local schools and colleges in West Durrington. The UniConnect Creative Connections programme worked with a variety of community projects including Nadia Chalk from Creative Waves. Participants created artwork that was displayed on Worthing Pier, designed a banner and painted wooden boards for the Bees and Seas Community Project at Brooklands Park. They also worked with Shoreham Fort to produce signs for use in their First World War memorial trench. 

  • Design Culture: Virtual Twilight Lecture Series

    In 2021 we hosted a series of weekly Design Culture Virtual Twilight Lectures with Q&A delivered by Juliana Sissons – knitwear designer, professional pattern cutter, and educator. 

    Talks included:

    • Week 4: Fashion and a Museum Audience
    • Week 5: Sustainable Design

  • Music and Media Industry Weekly Webinars

    In 2021 we hosted a series of Music Industry Webinars with Q&As delivered in partnership with LOOKOUT and funded by UniConnect. 

    Talks included:

    • Nick Baxter: Music Publishing Manager for BBC
    • Studios
    • Anna Moulson: Freelance Live Music Promoter and  Event Consultant
  • Inspirational Voices from the Global Majority

    In collaboration with LOOKOUT and funded by UniConnect, we ran a series of free talks and workshops from people of colour in music and the performing arts.

    Talks and workshops included:

    • Introduction to African Oral Storytelling 
    • Juwon Ogungbe: Making Musical Theatre 
    • Prema Mehta: Lighting Designer and Founder of Stage Sight 
    • Suhayla El Bushra: Writer
    • Nadia Khan: Woman in CTRL 
    • Tarik Elmoutawakil: Artist, Programmer and Creative Producer
  • Festive Feast

    We were delighted to support a very special event for Brighton & Hove care leavers and unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people. The College partnered with Nourish Catering and the Brighton & Hove Leaving Care Team to provide a Festive Feast in the Gallery Restaurant at the College’s Central Brighton Campus.

    The event was supported by volunteers and most of the food was sourced from the local FareShare. The young people received gift bags full of quality presents donated by local businesses and sourced and packed by a fabulous team of helpers. 

    Caroline from the Leaving Care Team said: “What a brilliant event hosted by the College and Nourish for our city’s care leavers. As well as the absolutely delicious meal, it was a chance to come together at last and everyone loved the games and the festive atmosphere."

    Jo Tolley from the Widening Participation team at the MET led the event, and said: “It was great to be able to support such an important event at what can be a difficult time of year for some."

  • Make a Music Video

    In 2021 we were delighted to offer a free 10-week music video course aimed at 16-25-year-olds. The course guided participants through the whole process of making a music video. Those who completed the course earned a Bronze Arts Award, alongside boosting their technical and creative skills. 

  • Community celebration!

    At this event, we celebrated the work of our community partners at One Church in Brighton. This included a range of exhibitions, workshops, stalls from local organisations and a community cafe.
