About the MET

Why the MET?

Over 150 years of innovation and expertise

Greater Brighton Metropolitan College (MET) was created from the merger of City College Brighton and Northbrook College Sussex. It is the college for our City and our region and draws on 150 years of heritage, history and experience.

We offer a comprehensive range of qualifications for 16-19 year olds, university degrees, full and part time courses for adults, apprenticeships and professional qualifications. The MET operates across five campuses in Brighton, Shoreham, Worthing and we teach around 3,500 16-18 year-olds, 1,000 undergraduates, 7,500 adult learners and 800 apprentices.

More than 1,000 expert staff work with our students to equip them with the knowledge and skills they need to prepare them for the world of work - to encourage support and inspire them. The MET helps to build the self belief, confidence and bravery our students need to meet and exceed their aspirations.

At the MET we believe it's our job to celebrate ambition, unlock potential and transform lives.

How have you found your first few weeks at the MET?

What our students say about us

"Good people, great teachers, positive and supportive atmosphere."

"Having one week on and one week off has been really positive and has allowed the course to fit in better with my work, and has also allowed for smaller group sizes allowing for more feedback and higher quality work."

"Lots of help from tutors and altogether a fun and exciting experience."

"Really positive!! I love everyone on my course and the tutors are great."

"The tutors and staff are friendly, mature and down to earth. If there's anything on the course material I do not understand, they do an excellent job at explaining it to me. My classmates are all fun, charming and likeable people and I get along with them very well. The course material is very interesting and engaging, and I am progressing well on my course tasks."

"The college is well organised and I've produced some really amazing work that I feel I can be proud of. I have made a number of new friends and overall I am feeling positive."
