Qualifications and SpecialismsSam Smith has over 20 years’ experience in both the private and public sectors including Marks & Spencer, Barclays and American Express, along with standalone HR Manager roles in smaller organisations such as CIMA. She has held numerous senior global HR positions and has had “hands-on” experience managing large and diverse teams. Her responsibilities have extended to all aspects of HR in Europe, India, Asia and America bringing a wealth of cross-cultural experiences.
Sam has a proven track record of working effectively across large, matrixed organisations and leading complex organisational projects. She has extensive experience in the recruitment, retention and development of talent, succession planning, performance management, diversity and inclusion, leadership development and overseeing transformational change programmes.
ExperienceSam is a personable, engaging and professional lecturer, who brings a pragmatic outlook to HR practice along with a strong enthusiasm for helping HR professionals learn and develop and progress their careers. She holds a MSc Strategic Organisational Development with University of Surrey, Roehampton, BA (Hons) Business Studies, a Certified Performance Coach (The Coaching Academy), is a qualified Level A & B Psychometric Assessor and teacher having successfully completed a PGCE in Further Education & Training.
Sam is also a Visiting Lecturer at University of Brighton on their undergraduate and postgraduate HRM programmes, including CIPD Level 7 Advanced Qualification in HRM.
As a Honnary Fellow of IES (Institute of Employment Studies), she regularly attends conferences and seminars on the latest HR research and best practice.
