Disclaimer and refunds
Although the information given is believed to be correct at the time of publication, it does not form any part of a contract between Greater Brighton Metropolitan College and the student. Courses and fees may be subject to change. The MET maintains the right to close any course which is not viable.
The College is obliged to run courses in a cost-effective manner. This will normally be determined by the number of students enrolled on a course. If, at the start of a course, the viability of the course has to be questioned due to low numbers, the College will explore the possibilities of running it in another way or at a higher fee. As a last resort the College may cancel the course. The viability of the course will also be reviewed at the start of each new term.
The finance team do offer refunds for short courses. If the student has attended less than two weeks they can get a refund minus the £50 admin fee. This rule applies to all courses, including self-financing activity.
Where the MET cancels the course, either a full refund will be given or the student will be given the option to transfer any payment to a future/alternative course within the same academic year.
Full time year-long courses can be refunded up to 28 days of attending minus the £50 admin fee.
No refund will be initiated if classes are cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control.
The College reserves the right to make such alterations to the described courses, fees, tutors, venues and services as may prove necessary. If a single class meeting is affected by venue closure due to exceptional circumstances out of our control, no refund will apply. For ACL courses in circumstances of tutor illness, the College will, in most instances, look to provide an alternative date. Only where an alternative date cannot be arranged will a refund for that session be granted.
Please note that although every measure will be taken to ensure the tutor information on our course pages is an accurate reflection of our staff. Due to reasons out of our control we are unable to guarantee a specific tutors tutor on any course at Greater Brighton Metropolitan College.
The College reserves the right to make minor changes to courses:
(a) to reflect changes in relevant laws and regulatory requirements; and/or
(b) to implement minor technical adjustments and improvements, for example to address an improvement in course delivery.
Where minor changes are made, as outlined above, this will not affect the fundamental nature of the course.
More Significant Changes
The College reserves the right to make changes to the Learning Agreement or the course (including the location where it is to be delivered) in order to:
(a) improve the quality of educational services;
(b) meet the latest requirements of a commissioning or accrediting body;
(c) bring the Learning Agreement in line with best practice activities across the Higher Education sector;
(d) reflect student feedback, and/or
(e) due to a lack of student demand for certain modules.
If the College makes significant changes to the Learning Agreement or the course as outlined above, notice will be given as soon as reasonably practicable in advance of the change.
If a student contacts the College to end the Learning Agreement before the changes take effect, withdrawal from the course without any liability to pay further fees in relation to it will be granted.
The College will use reasonable efforts to offer a place on a comparable alternative course, if it is reasonably practicable to do so.
