Sights set high for Anish

A student who came to the MET with no GCSEs has his sights now firmly set on university and a career in accountancy.

Anish, who came to the UK from Portugal, has worked his way from Entry Level English through to his current Level 3 Diploma in Business. He has also completed his GCSE Maths and English, as well as a maths AS equivalent.

Anish has now applied to university and hopes to become a Chartered Accountant.

He said, "The MET hasn't only helped with my career goal, it has helped me to discover it. I didn't know where I was heading in my academic study when I first joined, but studying business at the MET has led me to discover my passion, which turns out to be finance.”

Anish has high praise for his tutors: "They really care about the students, and have given me advice not only for going on to higher education, but also other opportunities that are available to me”.

“My experience at the MET has been very rewarding. It has given me all the qualifications I need to pursue my career, as well as allowing me to improve my English and be able to speak fluently. Being able to achieve a Distinction, from barely passing in my courses, has had a big hand in shaping who I am today. I was able to join without any qualifications and I am now looking at going on to go to university.”

Collette, Curriculum Lead for Business, IT and Travel said, “He really has had an amazing journey with us, and as an ex Level 1 student without GCSEs, this is amazing news.”
