Why this course?

Based within the exciting and vibrant creative industries department our games development course will allow you to explore and develop creativity within a stimulating environment through a mix of practical and theoretical learning. With topics including 3D modelling, concept art and programming. 

This level 1 course provides an introduction to games development and design, you will study historical contextual units and develop your style through practical animation and design modules. You will study programming, learn logical problem solving and gain the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to progress to further study or employment in the fast-moving games industry.

You will have the opportunity to work on real-life projects commissioned by internal and external clients.

Course fees

This course is also free if you meet the following criteria: 

  • You may not have to pay any fees if you will be aged 19 or over when you begin this course and:
  • You are a UK citizen, hold EU Settlement Status or have a visa which could qualify you for home status. 

 AND

  • You are in receipt of Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • OR you are receiving a means tested benefit, earning less than £617 per month (take home) if you are a sole claimant or £988 a month if you have a joint claim with your partner, and are completing the course to improve your employability
  • OR if you are working and earn less than £20,319 per year (gross pay)
  • You will need to provide evidence and sign a declaration when you enrol.

Course costs

All 16+ (full-time) courses are free to UK citizens, those who hold EU Settlement Status or have a visa which could qualify them for home status, AND are under 19 years old on the 31 August of the year of entry.
