Case study - Amanda: Level 3 Extended Diploma in Musical Theatre | FdA Acting and Contemporary Theatre Making | BA (Hons) Top Up Acting

After successfully completing her Level 3 Diploma in Musical Theatre at the MET, Amanda progressed onto an FdA in Acting and Contemporary Theatre, before completing the top-up year for a BA (Hons) in Acting.

Since finishing her course at the MET, Amanda has been performing verbatim testimonies and poetry in a film entitled ‘This Is Not Love’ for the charity Women’s Voice Hastings to raise awareness about domestic violence. She has also featured in an audiobook version of ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Another World Audiobooks to raise money for the charity Operation Christmas Child; as a spoken word artist on a track called ‘Life Is Not The Same’ written and created by Confidential, and has written, co-directed and starred in her first short film.

Amanda said, “I feel my final year was the most transformational year for me as an artist, despite the pandemic. All the wonderful tutors taught me the most valuable lesson - to make your own work. It’s really important to be employable and professional. Northbrook College gave me the freedom to explore my interests and to make mistakes and learn from them.”

“My advice for anyone looking to apply for either a college or university course, is to be ready to work hard and to be challenged. These courses are for students looking to get intensive, high-standard training, which will be a transformational and invaluable experience for those considering performance as a career.”
