Case study - Sara: Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools | Level 2 Certificate and Level 3 Diploma

Sara started at the MET in 2019 on our Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools, and went on to Level 3. Sara chose to change her career with the MET as she could work and study around her family life and childcare.

Sara said: ‘The course was very interesting, I have learnt and improved a lot since I started. I have enjoyed everything about the course, particularly the friendships I found. At the beginning of the course I thought of leaving, as being in a different country there were lots of differences, but after a few months I changed my mind. I have done other courses since living here in the UK , but on this one I have had lots of fun.

At the beginning of the course, I wasn't sure if I was suitable because English is not my first language, but as soon as I met my fantastic tutor, I started to believe in myself more.

Karen, our tutor, is amazing. She has years of experience and she loves teaching. If you have problems or you are struggling with something, she goes above and beyond. She has supported me throughout the course, especially as English is not my first language.

I would recommend this course to everyone. When I finished Level 2, I wasn’t sure about continuing to Level 3 because I heard it was more difficult and I didn’t have the confidence. Thanks to Karen, I decided to go for it, and I am happy to be here. Even during remote learning she was there for us, uploading videos, marking and answering lots of emails.

I can't wait to go back to school and show my skills to the children I was supporting before COVID. I hope to continue with my education, practising, learning and building my confidence so that I can apply for a job.”
