DIY tips from the Pallet Project!

Pictured: Brighton MET students and their recycled pallets

One of the most popular and cheapest materials to use to create a multitude of DIY projects is the wooden pallet. Usually confined to its original purpose of storage and shipping, the wooden pallet has become very popular among DIY-ers. Here at the MET, Pathways Construction students have been involved in a project making their own bespoke furniture from recycled pallets donated by staff and the College’s estates team. Using professional skills and equipment, students are producing items such as coffee tables, coat racks and spice racks.

Tutor Steve Wilkins, who teaches carpentry skills to the students, has also been sharing his expertise on YouTube – if you’re interested in learning what can be made out of old wooden pallets, check out Steve’s instructional videos…
