Course aims and areas

The Level 2 IT Application Specialist is suitable for those whose main job role is to use IT applications in support of colleagues or customers in any sector or industry.

The learner will develop competency in order to plan, select and use appropriate IT tools and applications for the task. Learners will then progress their approaches to improve personal effectiveness and business productivity using IT.

The qualification will build the learners skills to enhance their personal and team effectiveness through the application of IT whilst gaining further knowledge and insight into the wider use of IT across their organisation.

  • Configuring and Using Operating Systems
  • Using Office Applications

The diploma element will be delivered and supported in the workplace and college. If Functional Skills are required, this element will be delivered in the classroom.

Course Costs

Wages vary depending on the type of apprenticeship but there is a national minimum wage (NMW) in the UK which applies to all 16-18 year olds and to those aged 19 or over in the first year of their studies. From October 2017, this is £3.70 per hour. However, the MET encourages employers to pay at a higher hourly rate.
