Course aims and areas

The course gives you the opportunity to re-configure existing arts practice and provides interdisciplinary and collaborative working opportunities.

You are provided with a permanent, individual studio area and have creative space to develop practical work.

The course focuses on developing your creative voice, your professional skills and positioning within a fast paced arts world.

It will provides a dynamic, challenging, interdisciplinary environment, where your creative art practice and the development of creative enterprise is at the centre of your experience, informed by critical and cultural studies.

You will have the opportunity to further develop your entrepreneurial and practical skills alongside your creative development with the aim of developing a meaningful and sustainable arts practice.

Work Experience

You will be able to initiate entrepreneurial projects and activities, which will involve working with external organisations, clients and professionals.

The course motivates you to network during the programme developing a business attitude towards working in the arts based sector.

Through modules on the course and personal endeavour you will participate in activities during the Brighton Photo Fringe, The Brighton Fringe Festival and local art house events in Brighton.

Brighton MET is keen to offer our students work experience placements, particularly with the increasing importance for students to complete placements as part of their study programmes across all industry areas.

What's Next?

On successful graduation from the BA (Hons) Visual Arts Practice you will be equipped to progress your study to postgraduate level.

You are equipped to both identify and initiate commercial and professional opportunities that arise from your creative work or may help to sustain it.

On completing the course you will be proficient in your chosen art direction and will be able to sustain an area in either a specific field or across discipline with the confidence to start your own business.
