Qualifications and SpecialismsAmanda qualified to teach in 2011 following a hugely varied work life in both the private and public sectors. Initially working in below the line marketing agencies, Amanda re-trained and ran a successful picture framing business in Ditchling Sussex, a business support service in Brighton and also worked freelance as a business trainer specialising in organisation and management.
Amanda later studied for an Access Diploma and worked in Clinical Trials for one of the leading HIV/GUM research units in the country.
At the beginning of her teaching career, Amanda also ran the marketing, administration and sales for a therapeutic community, comprising two children’s homes in Hampshire.
Acknowledged for work on a Lipodystrophy study in The Lancet, The Youth Service Sex and Relationships Education Training Programme and contributes to various periodicals

Amanda joined Brighton MET in 2008 and has been the University and Colleges Union (UCU) Branch Chair and representative since 2015. She has also recently taken on the role to represent UCU South East Region at TUC.
