Taster Day Sessions

Our popular taster days allow you to sample a range of fun and informative activities, across a huge choice of subjects. Choose a maximum of two options from our five campuses:

• Wednesday 4 July - Northbrook MET, Broadwater Campus, Worthing

• Wednesday 4 July – Northbrook MET, Shoreham Airport Campus, Shoreham

• Thursday 5 July – Northbrook MET, West Durrington Campus, Worthing

• Tuesday 10 July – Brighton MET, East Campus, Brighton

• Wednesday 11 July – Brighton MET, Central Brighton Campus, Brighton

Please note there are a limited number of places available and these are allocated on a first come first served basis. We will confirm your bookings or, in the event of over-subscription offer an alternative, by email.


Wednesday 4 July - Northbrook MET, Broadwater Campus, Worthing

Carpentry & Joinery: Practical carpentry work. Need stout footwear (no trainers)

Bricklaying: Learn how to roll and spread mortar, compete against your colleagues to win a prize. Lay bricks and build a wall. Must have boots or stout shoes. You may get dirty, please wear appropriate clothing.

Business: Marketing Challenge - Design a marketing campaign for a soft drink and snack. Learn how to create a competitive edge and convince the dragons that your idea has investment potential.

Travel and Tourism: Map Challenge - do you know your capitals? Join in our quiz and take a tour of the world.

ICT: Learn how to create a basic website for yourself.

Hairdressing L1/2: Working on head blocks, styling hair.

Hairdressing L2 Apprenticeship: Hands on styling techniques, finding a salon and working in industry.

Beauty Therapy: Experience a nail tech demonstration & other treatment options. 

Hair & Media Make-up: Learn how to create fake wounds and amazing body art with our specialised facilities. 

Early Years Childcare: Craft Activities for early years children.

Foundation Learning:Team-building and social interaction activities.

Uniformed Services: Fitness Activity - students need to come in suitable clothing and footwear for exercise.

Mechanical Engineering: Have fun working on an exciting engineering project.

Electronic Engineering: Soldering Exercises and building an automatic night light circuit.

Electrical Installation: Lighting design & build. Boots or stout shoes must be worn, no trainers. Please bring a calculator.

Motor Vehicle: Motor Vehicle Maintenance - practical basics. 

Motorsport Engineering: Aerodynamics activity - build a plane and test in our wind tunnel.

Aircraft Maintenance: Learn about working in the aeronautical industry.



Wednesday 4 July - Northbrook MET, Shoreham Airport Campus

Thursday 5 July - Northbrook MET, West Durrington Campus, Worthing

Theatre (Performance): Take part in workshops in two of the following options: Dance, Drama Improv, Singing. Wear comfortable clothing.

Theatre (Production) 1: Technical workshops in lights, sound, green screen/AV, Foley.

Theatre (Production) 2: Design workshops to create theatre props or scenery.

Textiles: Fabric badge making workshop in the textile print room.

Music Performance: Group work learning a song and performing to an audience.

Music Production: Introduction to and using Logic software to produce a track.

Music Mgt & Live Sound: Introduction to live sound events; and learn to set up a PA system. 

Art & Design: Printing Without a Press: Using hand-drawn media, textures and stencils to create rich and layered prints.

Digital Arts: Digital art/graphics taster activity.

Games Development: Introduction to games programming. Create some 3D game art.

Thursday 5 July - Northbrook MET, West Durrington Campus, Worthing

Tues 10 July - Brighton MET, East Brighton Campus, Brighton

Sport: Take part in a variety of activities. Please wear suitable sporting attire.

Public Services: Learn about the UK's uniformed services and routes into those professions.

Health & Social Care: A practical insight into the subject.

Childcare & Early Years: Take part in fun activities centered around child development.

Music: Intro to computer music. Learn more about studying music at the MET.

Painting & Decorating: Practical painting & decorating activity. You may get dirty so please wear appropriate clothing, stout shoes (no trainers).

Brickwork: Practical bricklaying activity. You may get dirty so please wear appropriate clothing, stout shoes (no trainers).

Electrical Installation: Practical electrical installation activity. Please wear appropriate clothing, stout shoes (no trainers).

Plumbing: Practical plumbing activity. Please wear appropriate clothing, stout shoes (no trainers).

Motor Vehicle Maintenance: Practical motor vehicle maintenance activity. You may get dirty so please wear appropriate clothing, stout shoes (no trainers).

Foundation Learning (Central Brighton Campus Tuesday 10 July): Try out some art, photography and construction activities.

Tues 10 July - Brighton MET, East Brighton Campus, Brighton

Wednesday 11 July - Brighton MET, Central Campus, Brighton

Beauty Therapy: Eyebrow shaping demonstration, and learn about skin conditions.

Make-up Artistry: Presentation, Face & Body Art Demo, Interactive workshop in pairs on each others arms. 

Hospitality & Catering: Learn helpful kitchen techniques.

Hairdressing L2 Apprenticeship: Learn hair styling techniques, in a realistic working environment.

Hairdressing L1/2 (full time): Learn hair styling techniques, in our professional salon.

Computing: Caesar Ciphar and code breaking, plus interactive session on printers.

Travel: Enjoy a fun cabin crew activity. Learn about the holiday industry.

Business: Product marketing and branding activity.

Film:  Take part in an interactive workshop, where you will learn to edit a scene. Find out about studying film at the MET.

Digital: Digital software workshop. Find out about studying Games & Interactive Media at the MET.

Arts:  Express your creativity with giant mark making and 'big draw'. Find out about studying Arts at the MET.

Photography: Work in our darkroom on photograms. Learn how to shoot still life in our studio.

Applied Science BTEC: Enjoy a range of Chemistry and Biology activities, and experiments centred on the theme 'energy'.
