Course aims

Equivalent to A-Levels, the Level 3 business course is a fantastic way for students to secure a place at university or enter employment. If you enjoy watching The Apprentice and Dragon’s Den, if you like to find out what makes things happen in business, if you want to start up or manage a business/social enterprise or have a career in finance, this is a fantastic course for you to choose.

Whether you are heading for self-employment or big business, you will develop a range of business skills, techniques, personal skills and attributes which are essential for successful performance in business. You will have the foundation to go on to degree level study, an apprenticeship or into the workplace with knowledge of marketing essentials, recruitment issues and current business affairs, enabling you to choose specialist progression pathways or continue to keep your options open.

Our highly qualified tutors have a wide range of industry backgrounds, including event management, finance, marketing and sales, both in the UK and overseas. You will be joined by guest speakers to make sure your course is relevant and exciting, based around practical business exercises.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs grade 4 (C) or above, including English and maths.

If you do not have these grades, you can start on the Level 2 Business course.

Why the MET?

This course has been developed in collaboration with businesses and universities to teach a range of work-ready business skills covering marketing, finance, customer service and management. You will learn through practical projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations. Group and individual work will develop your skills, including research, writing skills and meeting deadlines.

Work experience

All students will have the opportunity to undertake 30 hours of work experience, which will provide invaluable links with local employers. 

Some of our business students have the opportunity to take part in high-quality work experience with Lloyds Bank.

Northbrook MET is keen to offer our students work experience placements, particularly with the increasing importance for students to complete placements as part of their study programmes across all industry areas.

What's next?

80% of our Level 3 Business (Year 2) students go on to university.  

On successful completion of Year 1 you may wish to continue onto Year 2 to complete the Diploma or the Extended Diploma. 

Alternatively, completing the Level 3 in Business offers a lots of opportunities through university and apprenticeship programmes.
