Why this course?

This course will provide you with the relevant skills to pursue a career in business, work with a social enterprise, start-up, or to work in a large corporate company.
Every type of business environment requires the ability to be organised, to use office equipment, work with others, deal with customers, answer the telephone, write letters, complete business documents and much more.
Explore, challenge and develop your understanding of the business world by learning about funding, tax, identifying potential markets, grants, business set up loans, costing, marketing strategies, business planning, pitching, research techniques, enterprise skills and by developing innovative ideas. You will also develop the ability to plan and shape your business ideas by considering start-ups, marketing and how to sell your ideas to potential sponsors and partners.
During the course, you will develop a range of practical skills and theoretical knowledge in the areas of enterprise, finance, marketing and team building in business.

Entry requirements
At least four GCSEs grade 4 (C) or above, including English and maths.
You will also need evidence of commitment and good attendance.
In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be part of the admissions process at the College.
If you do not have these grades you can start on the Level 2 course.

Course Units
This course aims to help learners become occupationally ready to pursue a career in business, or undertake a higher education programme. You will develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required by the sector, including essential employability skills through partaking in a work experience placement.
This course will give you knowledge and experience of a range of transferable business skills, techniques and attributes so that you can specialise in an area of business that interests you.
Upon successful completion of the OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate in Business, you can progress onto the OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Diploma in Business or the OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma in Business.

Assessment
You will be assessed through completing a range of internal assessments, which involve written assignments, presentations and role-plays and external exams.
Additionally, you will be timetabled for directed study to enable you to maximise your self-study periods and use online resources.
What's next?
You will be ready for a career in business. If you have successfully completed the Level 3 Technical Certificate, you could apply to a university-level course.

Course costs
UK and EU students do not have to pay fees if they are under 19 on 31 August in the year they are studying.

Please note this is a two year programme that consists of two courses.
Your fee status may change from one year to the next depending on age and circumstance at the start of the next course e.g. if you turn 19 before progressing to the next level, you may be required to pay fees as outlined above.
