Study carpentry and joinery at Brighton MET
The UK construction industry is constantly changing and developing the way in which it meets the challenges of creating the built environment - and that’s where it needs you!
Employers and the government require young people who can develop the skills required to design, create and build homes, schools, libraries and hospitals for future generations.
You will join Brighton MET studying for the CAA Diploma Level 1 and then move in years 2 and 3 onto the NVQ Level 2 and NVQ Level 3. After the first year you can decide if you want to qualify specialising in Site Carpentry or Bench Joinery.
The skills you will develop on our courses, depending on if you take the site carpentry or bench joinery route, include knowledge of quantities and construction technology, carrying out first and second fixing, structural carcassing, maintenance, the principles of CAD and the operation of wood working machinery.
Our specialist facilities at the brand new Brighton MET Construction and Trades Centre are exceptional. We have life-size, realistic training environments, such as a scaffolding rigs, workshops and large working areas, all purpose built to recreate real-life working environments.
Our team all have vast industry experience, which has maintained our high standards, excellent pass rates and allowed us to produce graduates who bring a high-level of technical skill and confidence into the industry.
