Our catering and hospitality courses will help you develop customer service skills and learn aspects of food preparation, professional cookery and bar service training you for a career in this exciting industry. You will learn in our fine dining restaurant, working coffee shop and industry-standard kitchens. At Level 1 and 2 you will study a combination of food and beverage service and at level 3 you can specialise in your preferred area.

Start at Level 2 if you have at least 3 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and maths.

Course content

Northbrook MET has industry-standard training facilities including The Arundel Restaurant, Brooks Coffee Shop and catering kitchens with the latest equipment. You will take part in themed evenings, food fairs, community and charity events, developing customer service and cookery skills. The College has excellent links with the hospitality industry and, as you progress, there are opportunities to visit hotels and restaurants and work with celebrity chefs.

You also have the option to split the course over two years; food and beverage in the first year and professional cookery in the second.

This course is free (you do not have to pay fees) if:

  • You are a UK citizen, hold EU Settlement Status or have a visa which could qualify you for home status.
  • AND you are under 19 on 31 August in the year you are studying.
