Why this course?

Do you want to study to become a trainer? This benchmark course is structured to improve your skills and knowledge of basic training and related areas.

You will learn the importance of learning and development within the wider organisation to develop as an effective professional. You will be introduced to the concept of documenting relevant information so it can be interpreted and used beneficially, and study how to deliver related activities.

Comprising of six units, you will need to allocate a minimum of two hours self-directed study per week.

An interview is required for this course.

You will be introduced to the concept of documenting relevant information so it can be interpreted and used beneficially, and also study how to deliver related activities. You will need to be able to set aside extra hours to complete this intensive study of approximately two hours per week.

CIPD membership is not included in the course fees.

Course units

The Learning & Development Certificate consists of six units:

1. Becoming an Effective Learning and Development Practitioner
This unit enables learners to develop a deep understanding of the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by L&D practitioners, and the importance of continuing professional development (CPD).  

2. Learning and Development and the Organisation
This unit enables learners to develop their understanding of organisations, the reasons they are established and the factors that differentiate them, and their operating environments.   

3. Identifying Learning and Development Needs
This unit supports the development of the skills required to undertake an effective identification of others’ learning needs.  

4. Designing Learning and Development Activities
This unit aims to develop the knowledge and skills required to become an effective designer of learning activity.   

5. Delivering Learning and Development Activities
This unit takes learners through the essential stages of preparing for and delivering an inclusive and effective L&D activity for a group of learners.   

6. Evaluating Learning and Development Activities
This unit develops learners understanding of the reasons for evaluation and the different approaches that can be taken to evaluating L&D activities.
