Why this course?
Create a collage with painted papers. Before creating your image you will be shown how to produce a range of patterned and textured papers using acrylic paint and a variety of techniques. Suitable for all abilities.
By the end of the course you will be able to recognize artists using these techniques, show that you can create painted and patterned papers using the methods demonstrated, plan a collage based on your own ideas, assess your progress with the activities at an introductory or intermediate level.
Topics will cover how to create painted and patterned papers using acrylic paints, contemporary artists working with this technique and how to transform your sketches or photos into collaged images.
Tutor: Maggie Tredwell
Maggie has an MA in Fine Art, a BA Honours degree in Painting and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. She has won awards in local and national art exhibitions as well as working as both artist and designer in a wide variety of media.

Scissors, acrylic paints, brushes etc., A3 white cartridge paper, a strong support such as card, canvas board or canvas on which to stick your collage pieces, glue stick or PVA glue, old newspaper, sketchbook or photos for research material (any subject), packed lunch. As the Refectory is closed Saturdays please bring packed lunch, hot/cold drinks and water bottle.
