Computer coding

This course has been designed with industry experts to ensure we deliver the latest knowledge in computer hardware, technology systems, games development and customising software.

You will develop programming skills and get hands-on experience in the installation and configuration of software and hardware. You will also have the opportunity to develop the personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.

Entry requirements

At least four GCSEs grade 4 (C) or above, including English and maths.

If you do not have these grades, you could start on the Level 2 course or, if you don't qualify for that, start at Level 1. We have options to suit your level of ability, so don't worry if you don't have the grades - get in touch with us and we can help.

What's next?

On successful completion of the Subsidiary Diploma, you can progress to the Level 3 Extended Diploma.

You will be ready for a career in computing and IT and, if you have successfully completed the Level 3 Extended Diploma, you can apply for a university-level course.

What's next?

On successful completion of this Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma, most students progress on to the Level 3 Extended diploma at Brighton MET, before progressing to university level courses. 

70% of students go on to complete the Extended Diploma. Others move on to a Level 3 apprenticeship or enter the world of work.

Course fees

This course is free (you do not have to pay fees) if:

  • You are a UK citizen, hold EU Settlement Status or have a visa which could qualify you for home status.
  • AND you are under 19 on 31 August in the year you are studying. 

Level 3 Entitlement

This course is free if you meet the following criteria:

  •  You are a UK citizen, hold EU Settlement Status or have a visa which could qualify you for home status. 

       AND

  • If you will be aged 19-23 when your course begins and you have not already achieved a full Level 3 or higher, you may not have to pay any fees.

Advanced Learner Loan

Lifetime Skills Guarantee

The Lifetime Skills Guarantee is part of the government's National Skills Fund, designed to help adults to gain the skills they need for employment and to improve their job prospects.

If you are 19+ and this is your first full Level 3 qualification, you may be able to study this course for free.
