Why this course?

Computing and digital skills are essential in almost every industry and business. This two year T Level in Digital Support Services has been designed with employers to teach you core content knowledge and skills related to digital environments and support services, allowing you to progress to skilled employment, a related higher-level apprenticeship or course of study at a higher level. There will be a mixture of classroom-based learning and an industry based placement.
You will also learn about topics specific to digital support services, including:
- Roles within the digital support services sector
- Communication in digital support services
- Fault analysis and problem resolution

Entry Requirements
You will require 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 to include English, Maths and IT, plus suitable reference. You will also need to pass a six week review.
Course content
Across both years you will study core content. These modules include:
- How digital technologies impact business and market environment
- Ethical and moral implications of digital technology
- Data in software design
- Using digital technologies to analyse and solve problems
- Digital environments, including physical, virtual and cloud environments
- Legal and regulatory, privacy and confidentiality of personal data
- Internet security
- Planning digital projects
- Testing software, hardware and data
- Digital tools for project management and collaboration
In addition to the core content, each student must choose one of the following specialisms:
- Digital infrastructure
- Network cabling
- Unified communications
- Digital support

Progression and careers
Career options might include working in IT solutions or data analysis. Students can progress into roles such as:
- Digital Coach, Digital Transformation Associate; ICT Support Analyst, Database Administrator, Data Administrator, IT Operations Technician, Digital Applications Specialist and Digital Systems Operator.
- Service Centre Operator, Digital Service Advisor, Digital Service Support, Digital Service Agent; Applications and On-line Service Executive, Technical Support Professional, Digital Support Professional, and Operations Technical Specialist.
- Information Security Analyst, IT User Support Technician, IT Helpdesk Technician, Service Desk Technician, IT Service Engineer.
Industry Placement
The T Level will include a minimum of 315 hours of learning on work experience placement. Our Industrial Placement Officers will help you link-up with an employer and complete work experience relevant to your interests.

This course is free (you do not have to pay fees) if:
- You are a UK citizen, hold EU Settlement Status or have a visa which could qualify you for home status.
- AND you are under 19 on 31 August in the year you are studying.

Unemployed/Benefit Waiver and Level 2 Entitlement
This course is free if you meet the following criteria:
- You may not have to pay any fees if you will be aged 19 or over when you begin this course and:
- You are a UK citizen, hold EU Settlement Status or have a visa which could qualify you for home status.
AND
- You are in receipt of Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- OR you are receiving a means tested benefit, earning less than £345 per month (take home) if you are a sole claimant or £552 a month if you have a joint claim with your partner, and are completing the course to improve your employability
- OR if you are working and earn less than £18,525 per year (gross pay)
- You will need to provide evidence and sign a declaration when you enrol.
