You must let us know if you are going to be absent from college.

How to notify the College if you are going to be absent

You should notify us before 9am if you are going to be absent.

If you have a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19, please scroll down and follow our separate reporting process.

How to use the eNotify app

Go to your app store and search for eNotify by VLE

Register with your college email address, verify your account with the access code sent to your email and you're good to go!

How to use the text line

Text 07860 064 616, starting your message with ABS.

In your message, you will need to include your name, date of birth, student ID, course and reason for absence. If your details are unclear or missing your absence will be recorded as unauthorised.



Reporting suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19

We have introduced a separate process for students to report an absence due to a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19.

The symptoms are:

  • a new, continuous cough 
  • a high temperature
  • or a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell 

Feeling unwell on-site

If you begin to experience the above symptoms on-site, you must immediately inform your tutor. They will take some basic details from you, advise you to organise a COVID-19 test and send you home. You must send us a copy of your test result.

Feeling unwell at home

If you have the above symptoms, you must not come to college. Please report your absence via this form. You will need to organise a COVID-19 test. You must send us a copy of your test result.

In either circumstance, you will not be allowed back to college until either:

  1. You have completed the required isolation period OR
  2. We have seen a copy of a negative test result OR
  3. You have isolated for the required period following a positive test result. Read more here.

How we will handle any positive cases

Should you have a confirmed case of COVID-19, we will work with Public Health England, the Local Health Protection Team and the local council to identify any individuals you may have come into close contact with. This will include reviewing seating plans within lessons, but as we cannot manage who students have contact with outside of teaching rooms, individuals will be expected to recall this information. It is worth noting that if social distancing has been maintained, this will not be required.
