College update - Friday 19 June
Dear Student and Parent/Carer
This week has seen a small number of students attend our sites to undertake the onsite assessments required to complete their qualifications. The health and safety arrangements we have implemented are working well and have allowed us the confidence to increase this provision over the coming weeks. We are continuing to liaise with those students being invited in (and their parents) to organise their attendance and talk through the safety procedures they must follow.
We are continuing to plan for the different scenarios we may be presented with in September. At this point in time we are planning for a substantial amount of our provision to return to face-to-face teaching with stringent arrangements in place to ensure the safety of both staff and students. We will share these plans with you as soon as we can but they will be subject to change dependent on updates to the Government’s guidelines.
MET Prep portal
We have compiled a wealth of resources for anyone studying - or considering studying - one of our full-time further education courses (predominantly for 16-19-year-olds) from September to provide guidance and support over the summer. The MET Prep portal includes introductory videos from course leaders, quotes and work from current students, a range of short activities to try out and access to summer projects, kit lists and more. Applicants and returning students have received instructions of how to access the site and will receive regular reminders of what they should be doing to prepare themselves for the start of term.
The portal is accessible for anyone interested in finding out more about the College and these courses. Click here to access MET Prep.
Work is underway to build an equivalent resource for our university-level students (higher education). Details will be shared in due course.
My next update will be posted on Friday 26 June.
