GB MET student heading to Amsterdam fashion house
A second year BA Fashion Design student from GB MET has secured a prestigious work experience opportunity as a design assistant, at Iris van Herpen Atelier in Amsterdam.
Harvey will be working at the fashion house from November until March, during which time he will be undertaking various tasks, including the construction of garments for an upcoming show, which the brand hopes will feature at Paris Fashion Week, as well as for private clients.
Iris Van Herpen is a “very big inspiration and influence” to Harvey and his work. He is looking forward to joining the team and “hopes to learn new techniques and gain a deeper understanding of the industry.”
Harvey explained that his degree course at the MET has helped him gain this exciting opportunity. “The course has provided the necessary steps to be able to professionally present myself, as well as giving me the chance to improve and create a portfolio of work that is desirable to luxury labels such as this.”
Gayle Atkins, Programme Lead for BA (Hons) Fashion Design, said, “This is a remarkable achievement to gain access to such a highly sought-after couture house.”
