MET tutor wins international award

A Northbrook MET Art & Design tutor has won two prizes in the prestigious International Marshwood Art Awards.

Gary Goodman’s oil on board painting ‘At the Zoo’ beat competition from around the world to win first prize in the Painting & Drawing category, judged by contemporary British artist Dave White.

His work also caught the eye of British designer, Jasper Conran, OBE (pictured below), who chose Gary’s work as the winner of the Collector’s award.

Gary’s painting depicts a woman watching an ape swinging from a branch. His work has been described by Professor Norbert Lynton as "highly poetic", and Professor Michael Tucker said, "There is a good deal of the shamanic in Goodman".
