Students are inspired by Futures Week
Brighton MET’s Creative Industries department hosted ‘Futures Week' from 18 – 21 November which included a range of events designed to promote the breadth and diversity of opportunities and career choices available within the creative industries employment sector.
Organisations such as Sky, University of the Arts London, Wired Sussex and the Fabrica gallery provided specialist industry talks, workshops and activities, giving students inspiration and ideas to fuel them on their creative journey here at Brighton MET and beyond.
Games students created a series of Dragon’s Den style pitches in a special event run in conjunction with Brighton based company Cobb Digital, as part of BIMA Digital Day (British Interactive Media Association). The winning pitch will be sent to BIMA for national judging – so watch this space!
Each November, Digital Day sees digital professionals head back to schools and colleges to inspire students and give an insight into what a career in digital and tech might look like.
James Dempster, Managing Director at Cobb Digital, said, "Companies need to work closely with schools and colleges so that students get better career advice and businesses end up with the skills that are needed to push them on. Working together is an exciting proposition and I'm already looking forward to being involved in BIMA Digital Day 2020! Thanks to all involved.’’
