Sussex Young Chef of the Year
The Sussex Young Chef of the Year 2019 cook-off took place recently at Brighton MET’s Central Campus.
Six chefs under the age of 26 competed to create a three course meal with local, seasonal ingredients in just one and a half hours.
The three contestants who made it through to the Grand Final are Dan Ibbotson from etch. in Brighton & Hove, Isabella Raccagna from Farmer, Butcher, Chef in Goodwood and Charlie Simmons from Rathfinny Tasting Room in Alfriston.
Nationally acclaimed chef and Great British Menu winner, Matt Gillan from Electro Pirate joined the panel as lead judge, along with Michelin star chefs George Blogg from Gravetye Manor and Tristan Mason from Restaurant Tristan. Food blogger and designer, Fran Villani, and sponsor and former restaurateur Adrian Burr from Blakes Foods also joined the panel.
