Digital Photography | Advanced
Why this course?
This course is designed for the summer months with the aim of shooting outdoors during twilight hours on the college Plaza, the north and south Lanes and Brighton Seafront.
The course will also include lessons in location photography, event photography, street / beach photography, working in the style of a master of photography, environmental portraits, architecture and travel photography.
You will learn a range of advanced techniques including working to a brief, recommended kit, choosing a subject, photographers to emulate, dynamic composition framing, the health and safety and legalities of photography. There will be also advanced digital post production skills in compositing. (montages, gifs and creating moving images from stills) upsizing and printing images.
Students are expected to fully understand their camera settings, and want to take their technical and creative skills to a higher level - Including creating a portfolio, critical feedback on images/projects and advancing to a photography qualification.
All students must have DSLR or camera with a manual setting and a tripod. You should have completed Beginners and Intermediate course or equivalent course and fully understands ISO, Shutter, Aperture settings. Some external flashes and reflectors will be available to lend during lessons.
You will need a DSLR or bridge/mirrorless camera with manual settings and have completed beginner and intermediate courses or equivalent. You also need to know how to use ISO, shutter, aperture settings and white balance settings.
Brighton MET Visual Arts department has an extensive and well-equipped range of practical working environments and art studios.
3D printer, laser cutting machine, large scale ink jet printer, Canon EOS DSLR cameras, Mac animation suite, photographic suite.
Plaster, ceramics and glass workshops, printmaking workshop (screen, lino, metal and dry point etching).
3D wood, metal and plastics workshop including a forge, a pattern cutting room and fashion studios.
