Why this course?

Hand embroidery stalk

This workshop is suitable for all abilities. Traditional hand embroidery techniques will be learned with the aim to create your own unique embroidered work. Learn the stitches so that you can leave with the skills to finish your project at home.

We will be talking about the history of blackwork, what it was used for and how it is used today. We will be looking at blackwork patterns and how they can be used to suggest movement, volume and texture. By the end of the day, students will have learned the four stitches used in the swan and have the knowledge to finish it at home.
