Experimental Embroidery
Why this course?

Experiment and play with hand embroidery, mixed media, threads, beads, paper, fabric, and collage. Learn traditional hand embroidery techniques, and explore the possibilities of hand stitch as an expressive art form. You will create a collection of samples that you can work into a larger piece based on an idea, theme, or image of your own. Samples will be made which can be worked into a large piece. We will be making samples and working towards a finished piece that you will be able to complete by the end of the course. You will have the tools to plan and complete an image of our choice (from a photo or drawing) using a variety of stitches
Upon finishing the course you will have the knowledge and equipment that you purchased to complete your work at home.
The course is suitable for all abilities.
Tutor: Nettie Rowsell.
Nettie is a freelance embroidery artist and textile restorer who trained in technical hand embroidery at The Royal School of Needlework.
