Qualifications and Specialisms
Amanda qualified to teach in 2011 following a hugely varied work life in both the private and public sectors. Initially working in below the line marketing agencies, Amanda re-trained and ran a successful picture framing business in Ditchling Sussex, a business support service in Brighton and also worked freelance as a business trainer specialising in organisation and management.Amanda later studied for an Access Diploma and worked in Clinical Trials for one of the leading HIV/GUM research units in the country.
At the beginning of her teaching career, Amanda also ran the marketing, administration and sales for a therapeutic community, comprising two children’s homes in Hampshire.
Amanda has been acknowledged for work on a Lipodystrophy study in The Lancet, The Youth Service Sex and Relationships Education Training Programme and she often contributes to various periodicals.

Amanda joined Brighton MET in 2008 and was the University and Colleges Union (UCU) Branch Chair from 2015 until 2019. She has been a UCU representative since 2015 and lead Health & Safety Rep since 2019. Amanda also represents UCU South East Region at the TUC and is the local Unionlearn Rep.
