Qualifications and Specialisms

Hello, my name is Paola St George I’m a psychotherapist and trainer in Humanistic Counselling, living and working in Brighton. I also grew up here, so I guess that makes me a real Brightonian, but as I am also half Italian, I have a certain Italian flair.

I have had a private practice in Brighton, at the Albion Clinic, since 2007 after I graduated with a BA Hons degree from Chichester University and am now an accredited member of the BACP.

Communication workshops:

Over the years, I have developed a series of workshops aimed at people using or needing to consolidate their use of these communication and/or listening skills. The workshops are flexible and can run from two hours to two days depending on depth and coverage. These workshops are very valuable to those people needing to add supportive quality to the nature of their communication skills. In the workshops, I look at:

● How we listen, what we really hear and don’t hear.
● Do we react or respond to what we hear.
● Do we say what we really mean, or are we motivated by other things?
● Are we fixers or sympathisers?
● How involved is the support of myself when I support others?

I currently teach two NCFE Cache short courses for adults at the Greater Brighton Metropolitan College.

NCFE Award in Helping Skills (Level 2):

This course teaches you foundational counselling skills to expand your skills and knowledge for a current role or as a step towards becoming a professional counsellor.

NCFE Award in Counselling Skills & Theory (Level 3):

This course enhances your functional role by using counselling skills and is a qualifying course for those wishing to apply for professional counselling courses.

Mental Health Podcast:

Mental Health Matters is a radio programme I host on Radio Reverb 97.2FM in Brighton. Each month we highlight different mental health and wellbeing services available in Brighton and interview mental health professionals. In ‘The Dedication Game’, we zoom into personal experience, asking guests to share their stories and experiences.
