Experience

I am the Curriculum lead for Carpentry & Joinery, Maintenance Operations and Painting & Decorating Here at Brighton Met. I first started in construction when I was 18 whilst at college studying 3D design. I have been a touring musician, a lighting and sound engineer and a chef but have always come back to construction. I found I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do as a career when I was younger and so tried lots of things out. I went back to college to get my certificates whilst working as a self-employed carpenter, and continued solely in construction from then on. I now have 22 years’ experience in construction making hand cut roofs, loft conversions, extensions, complete renovations, kitchens, bathrooms, garden timber and ornamentation among other things and I am passionate about carpentry and construction in general. I feel very privileged to have tried different career paths and as a result I am able to use skills from lots of different areas in my teaching and in the way I manage my departments.
