Frequently Asked Questions

The Government has announced we are now entering a national lockdown lasting until at least February half term (2021). This includes moving all teaching and learning online, and requiring colleges to set up COVID-19 testing centres before we return to on-site teaching. We understand this is an uncertain time, please read the frequently asked questions below for guidance. Please check back regularly as any updates will be posted here.   • How do I contact the Admissions team?

    Our Admissions team are currently working from home, but you can still get in touch with them over the phone or via email.

  • Can I still apply for a course?

    Applications are still open for our courses, including our full-time 16+ courses for school leavers and higher education programmes starting in September 2021. You are also still able to apply for any of our part-time, evening and short courses for adults. Please note that due to the current restrictions, some courses may be cancelled or the start date postponed.

  • The course I have applied for requires an interview - what will happen now?

    In view of the measures set out by the government to delay the spread of COVID-19 and our own commitment to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of all students and staff, face-to-face interviews for 2021 entry are currently taking place online.

    We will provide information about virtual interviews with applicants via email.

     

  • What do I do if I have a specific query about a course? Can I contact the teacher?

    Send your question to our admissions team at admissions@gbmc.ac.uk.

    You can also contact them by phone, you can find their details listed here.

    They will either find out the answer for you or pass on your query to the appropriate teacher to respond to.

  • Have you cancelled any courses?

    Regrettably, a number of our professional, leisure and hobby courses will be cancelled or postponed due to lockdown restrictions. If this has affected a course that you have applied for, we will be in touch as soon as possible. Our website is regularly updated to reflect any course cancellations and revised start dates.

  • Will my course still be taught on campus?

    Due to the national lockdown announced by the government on Monday 4 January, all teaching and learning is currently being delivered remotely. As soon as we are able to return to onsite teaching, we update all of our students and post a public update to our website.

  • Can I access support if I do not have the resources to study remotely?

    If you do not have access to the internet or a suitable device to work at home, please contact our Additional Learning Support team as, depending on your circumstances, we may be able to loan the required equipment.

  • I have additional learning needs. Who can I contact to discuss this?

    We will pick up any additional learning needs as part of the information you provide in your application. Should you have any further questions, you can also contact our Additional Learning Support team at:

  • How do I find out the status of my application?

    You can log in to your account at any time to see the progress of your application at ontrackprospect.gbmc.ac.uk. If you have any further questions, contact our Admissions team: admissions@gbmc.ac.uk

    If you've applied for a degree-level course on UCAS, you can log into your UCAS account to see the status of your application.

    Degree and HNC applicants who do not have an ontrack account should contact he-enquiries@gbmc.ac.uk

  • Are there any upcoming open days?

    Our open events for 2021 entry have taken place virtually this year. You can watch the recordings from our FE and HE virtual events held in November 2020.

    We will release further information about our open events in 2021 on our website as soon as the details are available.
