Why this course?

Based in our professional salon, this course covers all the required elements for a career as an employed or self-employed beauty therapist. You will learn to provide a wide range of practical treatments, as well as gaining knowledge in physiology, anatomy, and health and safety.

Our expert tutors have years of professional experience and inspire our students to reach their potential and prepare them for employment, developing skills such as customer service, commercial awareness, team working and research. The MET has excellent links with the industry and you will take advantage of this through guest lectures/visits.

Our commercial salon, based at Broadwater Campus, is the perfect learning environment for our students. Popular with local customers, the salon is run as a professional business, which allows our students to gain real-life work experience that is so valued by future employers.

Entry requirements

You can start at Level 2 if you have at least 3 GCSEs at grade 3 (D/E) or above, including English, science and maths.

In addition to the specified entry requirements, you may be required to undergo an assessment of your English skills to ensure you are at a sufficient level for your chosen course.

The MET's Broadwater Campus offers a modern and well-equipped environment in which to learn about the exciting Hair and Beauty industry.

Learners will carry out practical treatment assessments on college clients in a realistic salon environment. Students benefit from industry-standard equipment as well as enjoying Starbucks beverages on-site, hot and cold food from our excellent canteen, IT suites for research projects and the Learning Resource Centre (Library).

After Level 2, you can progress to Level 3 Beauty Therapy or Level 3 Theatrical & Media Make-up.

Future careers

Our Beauty Therapy qualifications allow you to become a member of the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) or Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT). There are numerous employment opportunities after your studies. These include:
