I studied the BTEC Sport Level 3 Extended Diploma, and I am currently studying Sport Rehabilitation BSc (Hons) at the University of Nottingham.
Like Physiotherapists, Sport Rehabilitators help people suffering from pain, injury, or illness involving the musculoskeletal system, as well as maintenance of athletes, with the potential to work in Elite Sports.
There is a misconception surrounding BTEC’s from the younger generation, that they are not as “good” as A-Levels. In my opinion, they are better!
Studying BTEC Sport was a great choice for me, as sitting big exams at a relatively young age didn’t appeal, and there is no way I would have achieved the equivalent grades. The teaching at MET for me was fundamental to my success at the college. The individual personalities, dedication and personal care of the tutors helped me to achieve a final grade of D*D*D*, and therefore secure a place at a top University, studying for my dream job.
The course itself covers a wide range of topics within sports and provides the underlying information needed to pursue a career in a range of disciplines. I discovered my passion for Sport Rehabilitation from in-depth modules I would not have undergone through A-Levels. For anyone interested in a career within the sport industry, I highly recommend the BTEC Sport at GBMET!

I am now a Personal trainer working out of the best independent gym on the South Coast, Underground Gym.
Brighton MET college has helped me so much in getting to where I am today by providing me with the chance to undergo my Level 2 fitness instructor qualification as part of my course. The teachers provided us with so much knowledge and guided us through how to be a good instructors. As well as the fitness instructor course all other subjects on my Level 3 sports course have really helped me with having the knowledge of the sports industry that I have now, all teachers provided me with key knowledge of different aspects working in the sporting industry.
GB MET college also provided me with two weeks of work experience across the two years I studied there, both my two weeks of work experience were at the Underground Gym which helped me grow a bond with the owners of the gym and gave me an advantage over other Personal Trainers that applied for the job alongside me.

The Level 1 sport course has made my start to college positive because I have met new mates and spent time with them in practicals. The practicals are fun and boost my confidence. The course leader David May has helped me get prepared for next academic year with Level 2 sport and find work experience in the sport I love (table tennis). My tutor Jude has motivated me to become more determined and helped improve my skills in different sports. Stephen has given me feedback and helped me become dedicated and hardworking. The LSAs are really supportive and give me great support which will help me improve my skills in college. I rate my first year a 10 out of 10. I'm progressing to Level 2 sport next academic year.
