Brighton MET is the only college in East Sussex offering a full range of courses in light vehicle repair. Whether you are a school leaver, or already in employment as a mechanic, we have the right course for you.

Our motor vehicle department is one of the highest achieving in the country, so if you’re interested in how cars work and would like a career as a mechanic, Brighton MET offers a friendly, supportive and highly professional environment with a range of courses that cover the technical needs of today’s motor vehicle repair industry.

Our students benefit from learning in in our 11-car workshop, designed to meet the needs of the modern day service technician. The workshop offers MOT standard equipment such as a brake roller tester, rolling road dynamometer, tyre and engine bays, five ramps, modern IT facilities and an external valeting area. You'll be based at Brighton MET East Campus near Brighton Marina which has great facilities and a friendly community atmosphere.

We have excellent industry contacts which mean that we can advise you on employment opportunities and we are very proud that so many of our students go onto develop successful careers in the automotive industry.

  • Motor Vehicle | IMIAL Award in Automotive Refrigerant Handling (F-Gas Regulation) - Level 3

    For experienced automotive Mobile Air Conditioning (MAC) technicians, to work towards a Vocational Related Qualification (VRQ), which is approved by DEFRA.

    If you want to become a qualified MOT tester, you will need to successfully complete this qualification which was developed with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
