Why this course?

Manicure

You will learn a range of skills including how to professionally administer manicures and pedicures.

You will learn how to apply specialist techniques including gel nails and also how to maintain salon health and safety.

You will also learn about nail technology and anatomy and physiology principles to support your practical skills.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to apply for roles as a professional nail technician.

Course content

You will learn a range of skills including:

  • Professionally providing manicures and pedicures
  • Gel polish application
  • Health and safety
  • Anatomy & physiology
  • Nail technology

Study hours: 

This course takes place between 9am-5pm, once a week for 18 weeks.

Each week you will be required to spend 1-2 hours at home studying theory, alongside 2-4 hours per week working on practical skills.

Entry requirements

An interview is required for this course.

We require a minimum of 95% attendance and you will be required to make up any missed hours. 

You must show commitment and flexibility as due to exams, department trips and training days, timetable changes may occur. 

Conduct

You will be expected to present yourselves in a professional manner, be polite and courteous. You will attend college wearing a uniform, with your hair up, nails cut short and free from varnish, and strictly no jewellery or facial jewellery is allowed. You will be expected to arrive punctual and attend all classes. These are all requirements of the awarding body.

Cost & Finance

The course fees for 2022/23 entry are £924.

You do not have to pay fees if:

  • You are a UK citizen, hold EU Settlement Status or have a visa which could qualify you for home status.
  • AND you are under 19 on 31 August in the year you are studying.

Level 2 entitlement

Course is free if you meet the following criteria:

Unemployed / Benefits waiver / Low wage

Course is free if you meet the following criteria:

You may not have to pay any fees if you will be aged 19 or over when you begin this course and:

  • You are in receipt of Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • OR you are receiving a means tested benefit, earning less than £343 per month (take home) if you are a sole claimant or £549 a month if you have a joint claim with your partner, and are completing the course to improve your employability
  • OR if you are working and earn less than £17,004 per year (gross pay)

You will need to provide evidence and sign a declaration when you enrol.

Additional costs
