Central Brighton Campus redevelopment | Update: February 2021
The brand new entrance adjoining the tower block
In summer 2019, works started at our Central Brighton Campus to convert the site of our old car park into a c3,000m2 extension to the existing tower block and a public outdoor space. This work is almost complete, with internal fixings now being installed. As soon as the Government announces that colleges may reopen, we will be welcoming our students back to the following new facilities:
- state-of-the-art studios and classrooms which have been specifically designed for creative and digital specialisms
- brand new hair and beauty salons located on the lower floors allowing improved access for public clients
- secure bike storage
- public outdoor space
The redevelopment has been part-funded by a £5 million Local Growth Funding Grant awarded by the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), Coast to Capital, in recognition of the important role the development will have in driving forward the region’s economic growth. The remaining costs have been covered by the sale of the land to the east of Pelham Street which currently houses outdated facilities. The site will be redeveloped to provide 130 much-needed residential units, supporting the city in its bid to tackle the ongoing housing crisis.
