Illustration student wins agency competition

First and second year BA (Hons) Illustration students recently took part in a competition with illustration agency, Plum Pudding.

The students were set a live brief by the agency to produce a cover and three to four black and white inside illustrations for children's book, Witch for a Week.

The winning student was second year Nathan, who impressed the judges with his depth of research, and was awarded a cash prize.

Chloe Morgan from Plum Pudding said: “Nathan had really gone above and beyond to put his own spin on the brief and when he talked us through his presentation, it was clear how much thought had gone into the development of his work. He had great characterisation and the way he’d played around with the lighting in his illustrations was really interesting.”

Course leader, Alan Baker, said: “Nathan is very reliable and conscientious. He has produced some exceptional work over the last 18 months — all digital, working from a tablet. He takes in advice and has developed his own unique style — I see a great future ahead of him.”

Congratulations to Nathan for his winning illustrations!
