Student awarded for volunteering dedication

Congratulations to Level 1 Health and Social Care student, Lauran, who was recognised for her dedication to volunteering at a recent awards ceremony in Brighton.

Alongside her course, Lauran volunteers for the Trust for Developing Communities (TDC), a Brighton-based charity delivering citywide projects for the local community.

Lauran was nominated for the ‘Community Champion’ award by her youth workers. She was put forward for her tireless community work, including volunteering at youth centres across Brighton, helping to feed the homeless, and writing a youth bid grant to arrange more activities for young people in the area.

Lauran was given her award by the Mayor of Brighton, and made a speech.

Lauran said: “I was really happy, I would never have thought that I would be chosen for the award. I was excited and overwhelmed, I still don’t think that I deserve it. I care about my community, and as long as they are happy, I will be”.
