Covid-19 update: December 2021

We appreciate that there has been a lot of attention in the media recently around the new Covid-19 Omicron variant and you will have probably seen the Government announcements. Covid-19 cases are continuing to rise in the local area and we have also seen a rise in reported cases in the College. We currently have 19 students and eight staff self-isolating following positive tests.

It is important that you continue to test yourself twice a week with a lateral flow test. If your result is positive, please book a PCR test to confirm the result. All positive results should be reported to NHS Test and Trace. Please also email, your tutor, and complete this form.

Having reviewed the current situation, and in line with government guidance, at this stage we are not planning to make any changes to our teaching or working arrangements for this week (commencing 13 December) which is the last week of the autumn term. We will keep this under review and respond to any changes in guidance.

At this stage we also expect to be operating as usual and reopening sites as planned from 5 January. We will, however, be monitoring the situation over Christmas, and should the position change, we will issue an update via the College website before the 5 January return date.

Please ensure that you pick up a couple of testing kits from reception for use over the Christmas break before you leave. Please also note that all students are asked to take a lateral flow test before returning to college in the new year.

Thank you for your continued support.
