Given the current situation much of the world is in, this course is particularly relevant for anyone new to working in a healthcare establishment identified as essential by the government or as an experienced cleaning operative in a healthcare environment.

This course is suited to those who wish to complement the work they are carrying out by supporting their practice with a qualification and in-depth knowledge. 

Learners are required to undertake the following units:

  • Unit 1 - Principles of the causes and spread of infection in health care settings
  • Unit 2 - Principles of the importance of personal hygiene and health in the prevention and control of infection
  • Unit 3 - Principles of decontamination, cleaning, and waste management in health care settings
  • Unit 4 - Principles of infection prevention and control in health care settings

This course is free/government funded if you are 19+ at the start of the academic year, you live in England (some regional exclusions apply, including Greater London) and have lived in the UK for the last 3 years. Find out if you are eligible for funding.
