Photography for 16-19 year olds
Study photography at Brighton MET
Brighton MET’s Photography department is staffed by practising professional photographers and it attracts an eclectic mix of students. Lively debates and critiques will help you to identify the strengths and weaknesses in your work.
The practical skills you learn will include studio lighting, dark room skills, printing from negatives, scanning from negatives, hand colour printing, digital printing, using medium format 35mm SLR cameras, film cameras, large format cameras plus digital practices such as Photoshop to produce digital prints. Historical and contemporary studies help to underpin the practical work.
Courses generally concentrate not only on assessments but also on portfolios. You’ll therefore leave the course with a strong body of work to show to universities or employers. The photography end of year show also showcases student excellence to potential employers. Most of our students progress to their first choice universities such as London College of Fashion, Falmouth and UAL.
