Pottery | Introduction to Pottery
COURSE OVERVIEW
This course is designed to be hands-on and fun. You will learn the basic hand-building techniques of working with clay such as pinching, coil and slab building.
You can start as a beginner or with previous experience of working with clay. Either way, you will cover how to create texture in clay and how to apply colour through the use of slips and glazes.
Experience will be gained by making your own pieces, which you are then able to take home. All clay, glazes, slips and kiln firing costs are covered within the course fees.
Note: This course does not involve the use of the pottery wheel.

Please note: you must be aged 19+ to enrol on a leisure or hobby course.
You will have a better understanding of pottery making and may wish to study another adult leisure or short course.
There is no formal assessment for this course. Your work will be reviewed during each class by the tutor.

HOW THE APPLICATION PROCESS WORKS

Set Up Your Account
You’ll be prompted to create an account which will allow you to log in to our Application Tracker website whenever you wish. This will provide you with important information and you can also track the progress of your application.

Apply
Complete each step of the application form and then submit your completed form. We’ll let you know when we’ve safely received it with an acknowledgement email.
Step 3
Application Review Meeting
Before offering you a place at college, we’ll meet with you (either in person, by telephone or online). We’ll send you a link to our booking page where you can select a time that’s convenient for you.
Step 4
Accept Your Place
Offers will be sent to you via the email address you have provided. The offer will be conditional, based on predicted GCSE grades. You’ll need to accept your offer within 14 days to secure your place.
Step 5
What next?
Once you receive your GCSE results, you’ll need to get in touch with the college to inform us of them and start your enrolment process.
