Why this course?

A relaxed and friendly course with the opportunity to cover a wide variety of hand-building, throwing and finishing techniques in a supportive environment. A truly flexible course suitable for the complete beginner, and those with experience.
All main areas of hand building, throwing and finishing are covered (coiling, slab building, press moulding, slip casting pinching, extruding, throwing and turning also mocha decoration, glazing slip trailing and much much more. Each year is different; ceramics is an extensive subject so with guidance from the tutor, each student can take the lead on what aspect they would like to cover - this could be transfer printing, slip casting or porcelain jewellery or many other areas.
By the end of the course you will be able to use confidence and knowledge you have developed to further refine your making and designing skills.

A comprehensive range of clays, slips, glazes and tools are provided, if you would like more specific glazes or clay it can be supplied, or advice given.
An apron or old clothes are advisable and shoes suitable to a workshop environment.
