This one year course aims to prepare you for university-level academic study and will help you to improve essential skills in essay writing and research. On this course you’;ll develop your knowledge in a range of healthcare disciplines that will prepare you for entry into higher education.
As well as learning about areas such as anatomy and biology, genetics, human physiology and psychology you will also be provided with the ideal opportunity to improve your general academic skills to help prepare you for university admissions tests and interviews.
The specialist subjects will provide you with a sound knowledge of healthcare that will prepare you for the first year of any health-related degree course. However, it is essential that you check this course meets the requirements for the degree you wish to apply for.
Students on this course progress into a range of careers including medicine, nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, and mental health services.
Please note: you must be aged 19+ to study this course.

Health and Care Academy

Brighton MET is working in partnership with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to help train the next generation of healthcare professionals. The Trust is offering a number of short practice based placements exclusively for GB MET students studying the Access to Higher Education Diploma in Nursing & Healthcare as part of their course.

FURTHER INFORMATION

If you choose to study on our evening class you must have GCSE English and Maths Grade 9-4 (A* – C).
GCSE Science is preferable.
You must be aged 19+ to study this course.
Work experience in Health or Social Care is an advantage, however, it is not essential and applications from people with different backgrounds are welcomed.
You will be required to attend an interview with a member of the department.

How to apply

HOW THE APPLICATION PROCESS WORKS

Step 1

Set Up Your Account

You’ll be prompted to create an account which will allow you to log in to our Application Tracker website whenever you wish. This will provide you with important information and you can also track the progress of your application.

Step 2

Apply

Complete each step of the application form and then submit your completed form. We’ll let you know when we’ve safely received it with an acknowledgement email.

Step 3

Application Review Meeting

Before offering you a place at college, we’ll meet with you (either in person, by telephone or online). We’ll send you a link to our booking page where you can select a time that’s convenient for you.

Step 4

Accept Your Place

Offers will be sent to you via the email address you have provided. The offer will be conditional, based on predicted GCSE grades. You’ll need to accept your offer within 14 days to secure your place.

Step 5

What next?

Once you receive your GCSE results, you’ll need to get in touch with the college to inform us of them and start your enrolment process.
