Supported Internships
Why this course?

A course designed to support young people with Education Healthcare Plans (EHCPs) to move from college into paid employment.
This one year programme is suitable for any young person 18+ with an EHCP
Studying a Supported Internship programme at the MET will enable you to gain skills in a real work environment whilst being supported by college staff. You will spend three or four days with the employer (full-time hours or part time hours per day, this will be agreed at initial employer meeting) one day at college with a designated personal tutor.
You will be placed in work which matches your skills and aspirations.You will attend college for one day per week to complete a 'Getting into Employment' qualification as well as English and maths as appropriate to your prior levels.
You will also be matched to a placement with an employer that suits your personal goals.
You will have support with your college work by a trained and experienced learning support assistant. You will receive in work support from a job coach to help you move to independence in your placement with the aim to move to paid employment once your internship is finished. The job coach will be funded through Access to Work funding.

This course is free (you do not have to pay fees) if:
- You are a UK citizen, hold EU Settlement Status or have a visa which could qualify you for home status.
- AND you are under 19 on 31 August in the year you are studying.
