Why this course?

Interested in learning how to build a website? Or hoping to develop a professional career as a front-end web developer or web designer? Or maybe you have interest in interactive media as a hobby or interest.
On this course, you will learn how to build a basic website, covering the use HTML editors, hosting, domains and set-up, understanding and hand-coding HTML5, web graphics, style and CSS, interaction and JavaScript, data capture and forms (PHP).
You will follow along and build a pre-designed concept aimed to help you develop the necessary skills to later create your own website. Step-by-step, we will build a class project using all the techniques necessary to create a great modern website.
To save work created, please bring a USB flash drive or external hard drive, or sign up to Google Drive/Dropbox.
No prior knowledge is required, although learners must feel confident using a computer (PC or Mac).

Week 1 - Learn about essential website building and management
Week 2 - A look at HTML and how pages are structured
Week 3 - CSS and how a website looks
Week 4 - JavaScript and interactions
Week 5 - Building a basic web form to capture data
Week 6 - A finished site, content and search engine optimisation
