COURSE OVERVIEW
This Get Started in Sport courses is practical and fun and your stepping-stone to success. This is a re-engagement course—for some students this means a fresh start, for others a chance to get back into an educational mindset.
You will have the time and opportunity to focus on key social and life skills, while linking them to sport. Based around our on-campus sports facilities, this course prepares you for progression on to other sport courses at the MET.
Working in small classes, with the support of experienced tutors and teaching assistants, you will build your self-confidence and self-esteem. The Level 1 course will also boost your social skills and ability to get on with a variety of different people. Our friendly tutors will help you to develop your employability and offer guidance on your future training and career options.

Your study programme will also include some supported English and maths sessions and provide a first step towards gaining qualifications.
You can also bolt on additional training and competition with our Football or Boxing Academy. This will be discussed at interview.
FURTHER INFORMATION
Start at Level 1 if you have at least 2 GCSEs at grade 2 (F) or above, preferably including English and Maths. An interview with a course tutor will be required. This course is suitable for students who, for many reasons, have not gained GCSEs. Perhaps you need to boost your confidence after a challenging time at school or maybe you just need some supported learning to help you on track to achieve your goals.
After Level 1 you can progress to our Level 2 course in Sport.
As one of the fastest growing sectors of employment in the UK, the sports industry offers a wide range of career opportunities to suit all individuals. The NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Sport opens the door to many career pathways.

You will be assessed throughout your course via practical activity observations, academic coursework and industry placements. Assessments are based around ‘real-life’ projects and industry or workplace scenarios including work experience. Your final grade will be awarded as pass, merit or distinction.

HOW THE APPLICATION PROCESS WORKS
Set Up Your Account
You’ll be prompted to create an account which will allow you to log in to our Application Tracker website whenever you wish. This will provide you with important information and you can also track the progress of your application.
Apply
Complete each step of the application form and then submit your completed form. We’ll let you know when we’ve safely received it with an acknowledgement email.
Application Review Meeting
Before offering you a place at college, we’ll meet with you (either in person, by telephone or online). We’ll send you a link to our booking page where you can select a time that’s convenient for you.
Accept Your Place
Offers will be sent to you via the email address you have provided. The offer will be conditional, based on predicted GCSE grades. You’ll need to accept your offer within 14 days to secure your place.
What next?
Once you receive your GCSE results, you’ll need to get in touch with the college to inform us of them and start your enrolment process.
